Jennifer Lawrence Reveals the Shocking Thing She Was ‘Completely Unprepared’ for When She Welcomed Her Kids

Jennifer Lawrence is revealing the one shocking thing she was “completely unprepared” for when she welcomed her sons.

The businesswoman and actress, 36, made an appearance on Alex Cooper’s Call Her Daddy, where she opened up about being a mom to son Cy, 4, and a 19-month-old, whose name hasn’t been revealed to the public. During the conversation, Lawrence revealed the most surprising thing she learned only after she welcomed her sons.

“You know, your vagina will bounce back. Your butth--e won’t,” she said, before adding that no one is truly prepared for anything regarding motherhood. “You’re unprepared for all of it. All of it. And everybody’s like, ‘Your instincts, your instincts.’ You have no idea what you’re doing.”

Reflecting on how motherhood has changed her as a person, Lawrence, who shares her sons with husband Cooke Maroney, said she’s trying not to be “so ruled by guilt.” She told new mom Cooper, 32, that she sometimes feels like she’s either not doing enough or doing too much.

“I don’t think I’ve ever just like gotten into bed and been like, ‘Wow, God, I’m such a good mom,’ ” she shared. “And I know I’m a good mom. I know. It’s just hard to pat yourself on the back because this job is so important and you love your kids so much that it’s hard to just be like, good job.”Lawrence also noted that becoming a mom has positively impacted her career. The Die My Love star told Cooper that welcoming her sons has given her more structure.

“I’ve never really needed structured time before, ... and so when you have kids, you have to be very mindful about what hours are spent where [and] what you’re going to do, or you’re not going to get anything done, and you’re going to fail at both,” she explained. “So I’m really structured with my time now, which is just something that I never thought about or saw for myself.”

Lawrence tends to keep her personal life out of the spotlight, especially when it comes to details about her children, only sharing small tidbits of her life as a mom. Back in January, Lawrence appeared on an episode of the SmartLess podcast and shared that she thinks of herself as a stay-at-home mom rather than a working actor.

“That’s me. I identify as a stay-at-home mom,” Lawrence said on the podcast. “But I am obviously working.”

“I’m not used to being busy like this. I normally have a busy three months while I’m filming, but even in that sense, it’s calm because there is nothing else to do,” she continued. “I just go to work, I do that, I come home, I sleep, and then I do it again. And then, like, two weeks while you promote. It is hectic.”

She also shared insight on her co-parenting relationship with Maroney, whom she described as the “opposite” of her.

“I married somebody who is the opposite of me. He is so organized. He’s an anchor,” said the actress. “Everything is ordered. I have to keep the closet doors closed, and I have my little jobs that I work really hard to do.”

“I get it now, I get it. [The kids are] on a very strict schedule. You know, it’s like breakfast: 7:30,” explained Lawrence. “He’s good at keeping it. But we’ve learned [that] to keep our marriage alive, I have a 15-minute wiggle room.”
